Helios Mutual Fund has introduced the Helios India Small Cap Fund, an open-ended equity scheme designed to primarily invest in small-cap companies. The New Fund Offer (NFO) period, during which investors can subscribe to units, will conclude on November 20.
The fund's objective is to capture India's next phase of growth by investing in emerging small-cap businesses that are closely tied to the country’s capital expenditure, manufacturing, and consumption cycles. It follows Helios' established research-driven and conviction-based investment approach.
The minimum investment required during the NFO is ₹5,000, with subsequent investments allowed in multiples of ₹1 and a minimum additional purchase amount of ₹1,000.
Helios Mutual Fund highlights that small-cap businesses often represent early-stage firms with significant long-term growth and innovation potential. The fund will look for opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, chemicals, capital goods, and consumer services, which may have a limited presence in large-cap indices.
Dinshaw Irani, CEO and Managing Director of Helios India, expressed optimism, expecting renewed investor interest as global liquidity improves and India maintains a stable macroeconomic environment. He noted that moderated equity valuations and stabilizing earnings expectations make small-cap investments relatively more attractive.
Deviprasad Nair, Business Head at Helios India, added that the small-cap segment offers access to under-researched companies at the intersection of innovation, domestic consumption, and manufacturing expansion, supported by India's substantial MSME base.
Impact: This launch is significant as it aims to channel fresh capital into India's small-cap segment. Such funds can drive growth in emerging businesses, boost market liquidity, and offer investors a new avenue to participate in India's economic expansion. The improved macroeconomic outlook and moderating valuations cited by Helios are positive indicators for this segment. (Rating: 8/10)
