Mutual fund investors are increasing their investment in equities, with a preference for flexi cap and mid cap schemes. In October, flexi cap funds attracted ₹8,929 crore and mid cap funds ₹3,807 crore. While overall equity inflows softened by nearly 19% due to lower interest in large and small cap categories, mid cap schemes continue to show strong performance, with funds like Nippon India Growth Midcap Fund delivering over 25% returns in three years. Analysts attribute this sustained retail participation to easier access via discount brokers, a resilient Indian economy, strong corporate earnings, and growing investor maturity, even with stretched valuations.
