Invesco India Large & Mid Cap Fund Leads 3-Year Returns at 23.4% CAGR

The Invesco India Large & Mid Cap Fund has reached a three-year CAGR of 23.4%, outperforming several peers as of August 9, 2026. While the fund shows strong long-term results, investors should note that rankings often shift across different time periods. With an AUM of nearly ₹11,761 crore, the fund carries a 'very high' risk rating, reflecting the volatility inherent in mid-cap market segments.

The Invesco India Large & Mid Cap Fund has emerged as a top performer in its category, delivering a three-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.4% as of August 9, 2026. This performance puts it ahead of other major schemes in the large-and-mid-cap category, such as the Motilal Oswal Large & Midcap Fund and the Bandhan Large & Mid Cap Fund, which recorded returns of 22.3% and 18.6% respectively over the same three-year duration.

Understanding Performance Metrics

It is important for investors to look at these numbers in context. While the three-year CAGR highlights strong long-term momentum, mutual fund rankings can be volatile and change significantly depending on the measurement window. For instance, data indicates that different funds often lead the rankings when measured over one-month, three-month, or one-year timeframes. Relying solely on a single snapshot of returns can be misleading, as market conditions impact sectors and stocks differently over short and long durations.

The Invesco fund, which is managed by Aditya Khemani and Amit Ganatra, operates with an asset base of approximately ₹11,761 crore. The fund benchmarks itself against the Nifty Large Midcap 250 TRI. When looking at performance relative to its benchmark, the fund has shown significant outperformance, indicating that the managers' stock selection has added value above the index returns over the past three years.

Risks and Fund Structure

Investors should be aware of the underlying risk profile associated with this strategy. The fund is classified as a 'very high' risk investment. This is largely because it is mandated to invest at least 35% of its assets in large-cap stocks and at least 35% in mid-cap stocks. While this combination aims to capture growth from mid-sized companies while maintaining stability through large-cap holdings, it also exposes the portfolio to the higher volatility associated with the mid-cap segment.

Market risk is another factor to consider. Equity mutual funds, by their nature, are subject to fluctuations in the stock market. A temporary dip in sector performance or a broader market correction can affect the fund's net asset value (NAV) regardless of past performance. Additionally, the fund imposes an exit load of 1% on redemptions exceeding 10% of the units within the first year, which is a factor for investors needing liquidity.

When evaluating such funds, the focus should remain on consistency and the fit of the fund within one's personal financial goals. Investors typically monitor whether the fund's strategy aligns with their risk tolerance and time horizon rather than reacting to short-term ranking shifts. Future updates to track include the fund's quarterly portfolio disclosures and how the management navigates sector-specific volatility within the Nifty Large Midcap 250 index.
