Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India) has introduced the Mirae Asset Infrastructure Fund, a new open-ended equity scheme designed to offer investors exposure to companies pivotal to India's infrastructure ecosystem. The fund's investment universe includes sectors such as construction, logistics, power, telecom, building materials, data centres, healthcare infrastructure, and infrastructure financing entities.
The New Fund Offer (NFO) period for subscription is scheduled from November 17 to December 1, 2023, with continuous sale and repurchase commencing on December 8. The minimum investment required during the NFO is ₹5,000, with subsequent investments in multiples of ₹1.
This scheme will be benchmarked against the BSE India Infrastructure Total Return Index (TRI). Its investment strategy mandates allocating at least 80% of its assets to equity and equity-related instruments of infrastructure-related companies. Additionally, it can invest up to 10% in units of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), with the remainder in debt and money market instruments.
The fund house highlights that India's infrastructure sector is experiencing a significant growth phase, bolstered by substantial public and private capital expenditure. Initiatives like PM Gati Shakti, Bharatmala, Sagarmala, and the National Infrastructure Pipeline are key drivers supporting this expansion.
Impact: This launch signifies increased investor options for capitalising on India's infrastructure development. It may lead to greater fund flows into related companies, potentially boosting their valuations and overall sector sentiment. A rating of 6/10 reflects its relevance for investors looking to gain targeted exposure to a key growth theme in India.
