The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is set to launch its first-ever Global Media and Entertainment Investor Meet at the 12th BIG Picture Summit, scheduled for December 1 and 2, 2025, in Mumbai. This significant new initiative, developed in collaboration with WAVES Bazaar, seeks to accelerate foreign investment and unlock new avenues for growth within India's dynamic media and entertainment (M&E) industry. Elara Capital has been appointed as the Investment Partner, and Vitrina will serve as the Global Financing Partner.
WAVES Bazaar, recognized for its expertise in project pitching and business-to-business (B2B) networking, will integrate its platform into the CII Marketplace at the summit. It will showcase a range of projects, including those from its existing portfolio and the WAVES Film Bazaar.
The theme for this year's BIG Picture Summit is "The AI Era: Bridging Creativity & Commerce." The summit will convene government officials and industry leaders to map out strategies for scaling the Indian M&E sector. Key figures such as Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and Gaurav Banerjee, MD & CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, will chair the event, alongside Rajan Navani, CEO of Jet Synthesys, and Gunjan Soni, Country Managing Director of YouTube India.
The Investor Meet is designed to create curated, one-on-one interactions, connecting global investors with high-potential Indian M&E ventures. These ventures span across film, streaming, gaming, animation, visual effects (VFX), and live entertainment.
Shibashish Sarkar, Chairman of the CII Global M&E Investor Summit, Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, and President of the Producers Guild of India, highlighted the event's importance: "India’s M&E industry... has thrived largely on private passion and capital. CII’s Investor Meet is a major step to change that." He emphasized that this is a "true matchmaking event aimed at showcasing Indian companies as viable, exciting investments."
Impact: This initiative is expected to significantly boost foreign investment into the Indian media and entertainment sector. By providing a structured platform for global investors to connect with Indian companies, it can lead to increased funding for content creation, technological adoption, and expansion, ultimately driving growth and innovation within the industry. It positions India as an attractive destination for M&E investments.
