Sunshine Pictures IPO Opens: Price Band Fixed at ₹342-360

Sunshine Pictures' initial public offering opened for subscription on August 18, 2026, seeking to raise ₹282 crore. While early sentiment appears positive, investors should carefully evaluate the company's declining revenue, negative cash flow, and high client concentration before participating.

The initial public offering of Sunshine Pictures commenced on August 18, 2026, offering investors a chance to subscribe to the company's shares. The issue, which is open for bidding until August 20, is priced in the range of ₹342 to ₹360 per share. The company plans to raise a total of ₹282.14 crore, which comprises a fresh issue of shares worth ₹172.80 crore and an offer for sale by existing promoters amounting to ₹109.34 crore.

Anchor Book and Market Sentiment

Ahead of the public subscription, Sunshine Pictures successfully raised ₹84.64 crore from nine anchor investors at the upper price band of ₹360 per share. It is important for investors to note that no domestic mutual funds or insurance companies participated in this anchor round. In the grey market, which is an unofficial and unregulated trading platform, the shares are seeing a premium of approximately ₹68 to ₹75, which suggests a potential listing gain of about 20% to 21%. However, investors should be aware that grey market premiums are highly volatile and do not serve as a guaranteed indicator of how the stock will perform once it officially lists on the exchanges.

Financial and Business Risks

Beyond the immediate market excitement, the company's financial documents reveal several areas that require careful attention. For the financial year 2026, Sunshine Pictures reported a significant year-on-year revenue decline of 27.9%. Additionally, the company recorded negative operating cash flow, which indicates that its core business operations are not currently generating sufficient cash to cover expenses without external funding. Because the company operates in a project-driven industry, its earnings can be difficult to predict, as they depend heavily on the success and timing of film and web series releases.

Customer Concentration Issues

Another point for investors to consider is the company's heavy reliance on a small number of clients. In the last financial year, the top five customers contributed 74.81% of the total revenue. This high level of customer concentration means that the loss of any single major client or a reduction in orders from them could have a disproportionate impact on the company’s total earnings and overall financial health.

The company intends to use the proceeds from the fresh issue to fund its long-term working capital requirements and for general corporate purposes. The shares are scheduled to be listed on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange on August 25, 2026. Prospective investors should track the subscription numbers over the next two days to gauge the broader market appetite and assess whether the company's future growth plans can effectively mitigate the risks posed by its current financial performance and client dependency.
