Saregama Q2 Profit Up 46% After Music and Live Event Growth

Saregama India reported a 46.4% rise in Q2 FY27 profit to ₹64.17 crore, with revenue climbing 36.6% to ₹314.3 crore. The stock rose 13.3% on November 4, 2026, as investors responded to strong performance in the music and live events segments, which offset a decline in the company's video business.

Saregama India shares jumped 13.3% on November 4, 2026, following the release of its financial results for the quarter ending September 2026. The company reported a net profit of ₹64.17 crore, marking a 46.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue from operations also grew by 36.6% to reach ₹314.3 crore, reflecting the company’s ongoing pivot toward music licensing and live experiences.

Music and Live Events Driving Growth

The strong financial performance was primarily supported by the music segment, which generated ₹251.3 crore in revenue, a 35% increase from the previous year. The company is aggressively monetizing its vast music catalog, shifting its focus toward digital platforms and subscription models to improve profitability.

At the same time, the live events business emerged as a key growth driver, with revenue doubling to ₹44.7 crore. This segment, which includes properties like 'Carvaan Live,' is part of the company's long-term plan to build pricing power outside of its traditional music distribution business. While these events require upfront spending—which can cause short-term pressure on profit margins—the company aims to establish these formats as recurring revenue streams.

Strategic Shift Away From Video

While music and live events are growing, the company’s video business faced a decline, with revenue falling 16% to ₹18.3 crore. This contraction aligns with the company’s strategic decision to move away from certain low-growth areas to focus resources on higher-yield content investments. For investors, this shift indicates a move toward consolidating assets where the company has a stronger competitive advantage, though it also means the video business will contribute less to the overall top line in the near term.

Investment and Financial Outlook

Saregama remains in a solid financial position, maintaining a debt-free status. Looking ahead, the company has earmarked ₹300–350 crore for new music content investments in FY27. This spending is intended to capture a larger share of contemporary and regional music consumption.

However, there are risks to monitor. The company’s growth depends heavily on the popularity of its new music acquisitions and the successful execution of its live event properties. If new content fails to gain traction with listeners or if live events face delays or cost overruns, it could impact profit margins. Furthermore, the broader entertainment sector remains competitive, and the company must navigate changing digital consumption habits to maintain its current momentum. Investors will likely track the commissioning of new projects and the impact of the increased content spending on the company’s cash flow in the coming quarters.
