PVR Inox Hits 52-Week High As ₹300 Crore Buyback Gains Steam

PVR Inox shares reached a 52-week peak of ₹1,310 after rising 12% in recent sessions. The rally follows the company's ₹300 crore share buyback announcement and a turnaround in its balance sheet, which shifted from net debt to a cash-surplus position by June 2026.

PVR Inox shares have climbed to a 52-week high of ₹1,310, reflecting investor optimism around the company's recent capital return strategy. Over the last six trading sessions, the stock has risen by 12%. This movement comes as the company proceeds with a ₹300 crore share buyback plan, which has drawn attention to its improving financial health.

A key factor behind the positive sentiment is the change in the company's balance sheet. By the end of June 2026, PVR Inox reported a net cash position of ₹80.7 crore. This marks a sharp turnaround from the net debt of ₹161.9 crore recorded in March 2026. This shift from borrowing to holding cash provides the company with more financial flexibility.

The company is conducting a tender-offer buyback where it plans to acquire up to 2.07 million shares. It has set the buyback price at ₹1,450 per share. This price is higher than the current market trading range, providing a premium to shareholders who choose to participate in the offer.

Management has also adjusted its spending plans to prioritize efficiency. By focusing on an asset-light model, which relies more on franchise partnerships than owning properties, the company has reduced its capital spending guidance for FY27 to ₹350 crore. This strategy helps in managing costs while continuing to grow the business.

Looking ahead, the company is targeting the addition of 100 to 110 new screens in the current fiscal year. The core of its revenue depends on the performance of its film lineup. Upcoming releases, including high-profile Hindi titles and international blockbusters like the next installments of the Avengers and Dune franchises, are critical factors for occupancy rates.

While the balance sheet has strengthened, the multiplex business remains tied to the success of movies. If the film pipeline fails to attract audiences, it can directly impact ticket sales and overall profitability. Furthermore, the stock is currently trading at levels that are higher than some initial analyst price targets, which is a factor for shareholders to keep in mind when tracking the company's progress.
