Imagicaaworld Entertainment is divesting its Novotel Imagicaa hotel to Juniper Hotels for ₹248 crore to prioritize its core amusement park operations. The company is simultaneously expanding into regional water parks and indoor entertainment venues to diversify revenue. While the firm recently faced a seasonal decline in footfalls due to heavy monsoons, the sale and successful warrant conversion are aimed at strengthening its balance sheet.
Imagicaaworld Entertainment is offloading its non-core hospitality asset, the Novotel Imagicaa hotel, to Juniper Hotels for ₹248 crore. This divestment marks a strategic shift, as the company looks to move away from managing hotel properties to focus entirely on its amusement park business and new entertainment concepts. By selling this asset, the company aims to unlock capital that can be reinvested into its core operations and upcoming leisure projects.
The company is simultaneously expanding its geographic footprint in the water park segment. It has acquired a 50% stake in Mehsana Next Parks, the entity operating Shanku’s Water Park in Mehsana, Gujarat. This location, situated between Ahmedabad and the GIFT City corridor, provides access to a region with high footfall potential. Furthermore, Imagicaaworld is diversifying its revenue streams by entering the indoor entertainment space, with its "Hello Park" concept set to launch at the Lakeshore Mall in Hyderabad during the third quarter of fiscal 2027.
Operational results for the July-September quarter highlight the inherent risks of the amusement park sector. The company recorded 2.1 lakh footfalls, representing a 6% decline compared to the 2.25 lakh reported in the same period last year. Management attributed this dip primarily to heavy seasonal rainfall, which kept visitors away during July and August. Such weather-related performance swings are a monitorable factor for investors in this space, as they directly impact ticket revenue.
To strengthen its financial position, Imagicaaworld recently completed a significant capital exercise. It converted over 2.3 crore warrants into equity shares, raising approximately ₹129.45 crore from promoters and select investors. With no remaining outstanding warrants, the company’s capital structure has been simplified. Moving forward, investors may track the progress of the Hello Park launch, the integration of the Gujarat water park asset, and whether the company can sustain growth in footfalls as it moves past the monsoon-affected period.
