Dish TV India Limited has announced a significant partnership with Amazon Prime, integrating Prime Lite benefits into its extensive ecosystem. This collaboration covers Dish TV and D2H DTH services, the Watcho streaming application, VZY Smart TVs, and a network of ISP partners. Eligible Dish TV customers will gain seamless access to Amazon Prime Video's vast collection of Indian and international original series, movies, and shows in HD. Additionally, they will receive Prime Lite shopping advantages, including free same-day and next-day delivery on eligible offers and early access to shopping events like Prime Day.
These benefits will be available through various channels: bundled multi-OTT plans for Dish TV DTH subscribers, included with the purchase of VZY Smart TVs, as an add-on subscription for Watcho users, and via bundled broadband plans through ISP partners.
This strategic alliance marks Dish TV's transition from a traditional DTH operator to a fully integrated entertainment provider, encompassing linear TV, OTT aggregation, and connected devices. The company has been actively expanding its digital presence with Watcho and its own VZY Smart TVs.
Manoj Dobhal, CEO and Executive Director of Dish TV India, stated that the partnership strengthens their commitment to delivering world-class entertainment across every screen, making entertainment effortless and enjoyable for Indian homes.
Shilangi Mukherji, Director and Head of SVOD Business, Prime Video, India, highlighted that the collaboration extends Prime's reach and offers customers added shopping and shipping value.
Impact: This partnership is expected to significantly boost subscriber engagement and retention for Dish TV by offering a compelling value proposition. It could also lead to increased adoption of Dish TV's digital platforms and smart TVs. For Amazon Prime, it provides a new, extensive distribution channel to reach a broad customer base in India, strengthening its market position in both entertainment and e-commerce. The deal reinforces Dish TV's strategy and could be a blueprint for other traditional media providers looking to diversify. Rating: 8/10
