UP Man Arrested for Alleged Murder of Wife to Claim Insurance

Police in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested a man and his associates for allegedly murdering his wife to claim a Rs 44 lakh insurance payout. The crime was initially staged as a road accident to help the accused settle outstanding financial debts.

Authorities in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, have taken Amar Singh and three associates into custody following an investigation into the death of his 32-year-old wife, Reeta. The incident, which was initially reported as a hit-and-run road accident on July 29, was uncovered as a planned murder allegedly aimed at securing a Rs 44 lakh insurance payout.

Investigation Reveals Staged Accident

Local police launched an investigation after discovering the victim's body near Paudhiya. While the accused initially attempted to present the death as a tragic traffic accident, inconsistencies in witness statements and technical evidence collected by law enforcement led officers to suspect foul play. A bank slip discovered at the scene proved to be a vital clue, helping investigators identify the victim and eventually link the husband to the crime.

Financial Motive and Alleged Planning

According to police officials, the motive behind the alleged act was rooted in significant financial pressure. Investigators state that Amar Singh and his accomplices reportedly owed money to an individual named Pushpendra Soni. The alleged plan involved orchestrating the death to obtain the insurance money, which the group reportedly intended to divide among themselves, with the husband slated to receive Rs 15 lakh.

Police reports indicate that the murder was carried out with precise planning. The victim was allegedly brought to an isolated road under the guise of an outing, where the accused's associates were waiting in a car. The victim was allegedly struck by the vehicle, causing her to fall into a ditch, before being run over again to ensure her death. To avoid detection, the perpetrators abandoned the vehicle and attempted to frame the event as a random road accident.

Current Legal Status

Following the arrest, police have recovered the vehicle allegedly used in the crime and a SIM card linked to the accused. Amar Singh, Amit Gupta, and Abhay Singh are now in police custody facing murder charges. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather further technical and material evidence to support the case in court.
