The Delhi High Court has ordered an immediate halt to scammers impersonating Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC. The court mandated the removal of fake WhatsApp groups and the blocking of 24 fraudulent URLs to protect investors from misleading schemes. Investors should note that official communications only come from verified company channels.
The Delhi High Court has taken firm action to protect investors by issuing an injunction against unknown fraudsters who were using the Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd (ABSLAMC) brand for illegal investment activities. In an order passed on July 22, 2026, Justice Jyoti Singh noted that the unauthorized use of the brand, including the name and logos of Aditya Birla Capital, was causing harm to the company’s reputation and putting public money at risk.
The court’s directive is comprehensive, prohibiting the unidentified defendants from using the company’s name, logos, or impersonating its senior management across any digital platform. This includes websites, mobile applications, and social media channels. To curb the spread of these schemes, the court has ordered WhatsApp to deactivate specific groups and profiles identified as fraudulent within 36 hours. Additionally, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Department of Telecommunications have been instructed to block 24 specific URLs that were used to host these deceptive platforms.
ABSLAMC had informed the court that these fraudulent schemes had been active since September 2025. The scammers were using fake applications, such as ABSLNHW and ABSLPRIV, to mimic official branding and lure unsuspecting investors with promises of high returns. The company had already engaged its cybersecurity team to take down several of these platforms, but the court intervention was necessary to provide a wider legal shield against recurring threats.
A significant concern for investors highlighted in the case is the use of bank accounts across multiple institutions, including Bank of India, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bandhan Bank, Federal Bank, Central Bank of India, Axis Bank, UCO Bank, and Unity Small Finance Bank, to receive funds from victims. The company confirmed that it had received numerous complaints from individuals who were misled into believing they were interacting with the legitimate fund house. For investors, this event underscores the importance of verifying that any investment platform or mobile application is officially listed on the company’s real website or the SEBI portal. Investors should continue to monitor their own communications and ensure they only interact with verified, official channels of the AMC to avoid falling prey to similar digital fraud in the future.
