Paras Healthcare IPO Allotment Set for Today, Oct 26

Paras Healthcare will finalise the allotment of its Rs 1,450-crore IPO today, October 26. The issue received a 2.23 times subscription, driven by institutional interest. The company plans to use the fresh funds to pay down debt and expand its hospital network in North India. Investors can verify their application status through the registrar’s online portal.

Investors who applied for the Paras Healthcare initial public offering (IPO) will know their share allocation status today, October 26. The subscription process closed on October 23, with the final demand reaching 2.23 times the total shares on offer. Data from the National Stock Exchange shows that institutional investors, or QIBs, led the demand with a subscription rate of 3.09 times for their reserved portion, signalling institutional confidence in the business model. Retail interest was also present, with the number of bids exceeding the total shares available for the public.

The IPO consists of a total issue size of Rs 1,450 crore, split between a fresh issue of Rs 500 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 950 crore. The secondary sale involves existing shareholders and promoters selling a portion of their stakes. For the company itself, the most critical use of the fresh proceeds is the plan to allocate Rs 375 crore toward reducing its existing debt. A cleaner balance sheet is a positive, as it reduces interest costs and improves the company’s ability to take on new projects.

Paras Healthcare currently manages eight hospitals with a total capacity of 2,211 beds, mostly concentrated in North India, including Bihar and Jharkhand. Part of the capital raised is intended to fuel an aggressive expansion plan, with a new 300-bed facility in Gurugram and a 500-bed project in Ludhiana in the works. These projects are slated to go live over the next two financial years. While expansion is necessary for growth in the hospital business, investors should be aware that hospital chains often face execution risks. Project delays, cost overruns, and the time taken to ramp up occupancy in new facilities are common challenges that can weigh on profit margins in the short term.

The hospital sector in North India is highly competitive, with established players and regional chains constantly vying for market share. Paras Healthcare’s future performance will depend on how efficiently it can fill beds in its new facilities and maintain the quality of service to compete with larger rivals. Before the retail launch, the company had already secured Rs 652.5 crore from anchor investors, including global names like the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and BlackRock Global Funds.

Following today's allotment, the shares are expected to be credited to the demat accounts of successful applicants. The next major event for investors will be the listing day, where the stock price will reflect the market's assessment of the company’s future growth against the risks of capital-intensive expansion. Monitoring the company's progress on its Gurugram and Ludhiana projects will be key for long-term tracking of the business performance.
