NSE IPO to Open Sept 17: Price Band Fixed at ₹1,700–₹1,785

The National Stock Exchange of India will open its ₹22,561 crore IPO for subscription on September 17, 2026, with a price band of ₹1,700–₹1,785. This major public offering headlines a busy week in the primary market, which also features issues from Hero Motors and several SME companies. Investors should note that the NSE issue is entirely an Offer for Sale, with proceeds going to existing shareholders.

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is set to launch its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO) on September 17, 2026. The subscription window for the ₹22,561.57 crore issue will remain open until September 21, 2026. The exchange has set a price band of ₹1,700–₹1,785 per share, with a lot size of 8 shares, meaning investors must apply for a minimum of 8 shares.

This IPO is structured entirely as an Offer for Sale (OFS). This is a significant point for investors to consider, as it means no money from the IPO will flow into the company to fund business operations, expansion, or debt reduction. Instead, the entire proceeds will go to the existing shareholders who are selling their stakes in the exchange.

Financial performance will also be a key focus for those reviewing the issue. The exchange reported a net profit of ₹10,302.06 crore for the financial year ending 2026, compared to a profit of ₹12,187.69 crore in the previous financial year. Investors typically monitor these trends to understand the company's earnings trajectory.

The NSE IPO arrives during a crowded week for the Indian primary market. Hero Motors is scheduled to open its ₹1,000 crore public issue on September 16, 2026, with a price band of ₹79–₹84 per share. In the SME segment, SpectraA Technology Solutions is also set to open its subscription on September 17, with a price range of ₹112–₹118. This flurry of activity provides investors with multiple opportunities to deploy capital, though it also spreads market liquidity across several issues.

Beyond financial metrics, investors often look at the regulatory and legal history of exchanges. The NSE has faced significant scrutiny in the past regarding co-location controversies and historical regulatory investigations. While these matters have been subject to legal and regulatory processes, any lingering or unresolved legal issues remain a monitorable risk for market participants. The exchange operates in a highly regulated environment, and any future changes to SEBI or other regulatory guidelines could influence its business model.

As the subscription dates approach, market participants will likely track the grey market sentiment and the initial subscription levels from retail and institutional investors. The stock is tentatively scheduled to list on the BSE on September 24, 2026.
