Manika Plastech Lists Flat at ₹43 After 28x Subscription

Manika Plastech shares listed flat at ₹43 on Monday, matching the IPO price despite being subscribed over 28 times. The ₹125.50 crore IPO proceeds are aimed at increasing production capacity and reducing debt. Investors are now shifting focus to the company's ability to maintain its improved profit margins while executing its expansion plans.

Manika Plastech shares opened at their issue price of ₹43 on the BSE and NSE on Monday, showing no initial listing gains for investors. The flat opening was contrary to the high subscription interest seen during the bidding process, where the issue was subscribed 28.14 times. Investors had bid for over 60 crore shares against the 2.14 crore shares on offer, signaling a strong appetite that did not translate into a premium debut.

The company raised ₹125.50 crore through this IPO. A significant portion of this capital is earmarked for growth, with ₹54.93 crore allocated to purchase new plant and machinery. This investment aims to expand the company's annual production capacity to 38,000 tonnes, up from the current 29,200 tonnes. Additionally, the company intends to use ₹15 crore to repay or prepay existing borrowings, which could help reduce interest expenses and improve cash flow flexibility.

Financial performance ahead of the listing has shown a positive trend, which is often a key factor for long-term investors. The company’s operating profit margin, or EBITDA margin, grew to 13.30% in FY26, up from 8.37% in FY24. This growth suggests better operational efficiency in recent years. Furthermore, the business shows stability through its customer relationships, as the top 20 clients have been associated with the company for an average of over 10 years.

Moving forward, shareholders will likely monitor the execution of the capacity expansion project. For the company to justify its valuation, it must successfully install and utilize the new machinery without significant cost overruns. Maintaining the recent improvement in profit margins will also be crucial, especially as the company scales its production. Market participants will also track the impact of the debt reduction on the company’s quarterly interest costs and overall financial health in the coming months.
