Indian Market Sees 6 IPOs Launch On Sept 9 Amid Regulatory Deadline

India’s primary market is set for a historic day on September 9, with six companies opening their initial public offerings simultaneously. The rush is driven by a looming regulatory deadline for IPO approvals, as companies race to list before the end of the month.

The Indian primary market is heading into an exceptionally busy week, with six mainboard initial public offerings (IPOs) scheduled to open for subscription simultaneously on September 9, 2026. This activity is part of a larger wave of 11 IPOs launching between September 7 and September 11, which aim to collectively raise approximately ₹7,055 crore.

Among the companies leading this wave is Rentomojo, which is launching an issue worth ₹1,255.57 crore, and Manipal Payment & Identity Solutions, which plans to raise ₹805 crore. This surge in activity follows a relatively quiet start to 2026, when geopolitical instability dampened market enthusiasm.

Market participants note that the primary driver behind this sudden cluster of listings is a regulatory deadline. The market regulator, SEBI, has set an expiry date of September 30, 2026, for existing IPO approvals. With this deadline approaching, many companies that had received clearance but delayed their launches are now rushing to tap the market before their approval documents become invalid. This concentration of new listings creates a unique situation where investors must evaluate multiple opportunities at the same time.

While the sheer volume of supply is high, investors are advised to exercise caution. The market environment has shifted compared to previous periods of high activity. Institutional and retail investors are becoming more selective, focusing on companies with clear business models and sound financial discipline rather than subscribing to every available issue. For instance, in the case of Manipal Payment & Identity Solutions, investors may look closely at customer concentration risks, as the company relies heavily on a limited number of clients for its revenue. Such dependencies can impact long-term stability and profit margins if key contracts are lost or renegotiated.

Furthermore, the rush to launch before the September 30 deadline may lead to some companies coming to market under potentially suboptimal conditions. While the total fundraising target for the week is significant at over ₹7,000 crore, the ultimate success of these issues will depend on current liquidity, investor appetite, and the valuation of each company relative to its peers.

The primary monitorables for investors in the coming week will be the subscription rates across these six issues, the grey market premium—which often acts as an indicator of listing day sentiment—and the specific financial strength of each company involved. As the market digests this heavy supply, investors may track whether the current demand is strong enough to support such a crowded calendar without leading to weaker listing gains.
