Indian IPO Market Faces Busy Week With 40 Events Starting Sept 28

The primary market is set for a hectic week, with 20 companies launching IPOs and 20 listings scheduled. Mainboard firms like Shah Investor's Home and SRIT India will lead the activity, while 16 SME companies plan to raise over Rs 697 crore. This high frequency tests investor liquidity and market sentiment after a record-breaking September.

The Indian primary market is entering a phase of intense activity starting September 28, with a total of 40 events scheduled across the week. Investors will see 20 companies launching their public issues and another 20 firms making their stock market debuts. This follows a high-volume September that has already seen 86 companies launch issues worth over Rs 41,000 crore, highlighting a strong appetite for new stock offerings.

Mainboard IPOs Lead the Action

The mainboard segment, which generally consists of larger companies with broader public participation, is highlighted by four key offerings totaling Rs 594.92 crore. Shah Investor's Home and SRIT India are both scheduled to open for subscription on September 28. Shah Investor's Home plans to raise Rs 90.17 crore, while SRIT India is seeking Rs 218.4 crore. Both companies are utilizing fresh equity issues to raise capital.

By September 30, the focus shifts to Vishal Nirmiti, which aims to raise Rs 178 crore through a combination of a fresh issue and an offer-for-sale. The offer-for-sale component allows existing shareholders to sell their stakes, which acts as a liquidity event for early investors. On the same day, Nityas Gems & Jewellery will also enter the market, looking to raise Rs 108.42 crore to support its retail expansion plans in the luxury segment.

SME IPO Risks and Opportunities

Beyond the mainboard, the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) segment remains the engine of the current volume. Sixteen companies will launch their SME IPOs this week, collectively aiming to raise Rs 697.20 crore. Among these, Acme India Industries stands out as the largest, planning to raise Rs 121.69 crore. While SME IPOs offer exposure to smaller, potentially high-growth businesses, investors should note that these stocks often carry higher risks, such as lower liquidity and stricter disclosure requirements compared to mainboard listings.

Monitoring Listing Performance

Market sentiment for the week will be tested by the 20 scheduled listings, including seven debuts on the mainboard. The listing of Varmora Granito on September 29 is a significant monitorable for the week, as it will provide an early read on how investors are pricing new entrants. The market is also looking at subscription data for recent issues as a gauge for overall demand. For example, recent offerings like Moneyview have seen subscription levels of 6.01 times, and Orient Cables has reached 1.96 times, indicating that interest remains healthy despite the high frequency of new listings.

As these 20 entities begin their secondary market journey, investors may observe increased intraday price swings. The challenge for the market will be to absorb this high volume of new paper without draining liquidity from existing stocks. The next steps for investors will be to track the subscription progress of the new launches and the price performance of the companies hitting the exchange this week.
