Annu Projects Lists at 27% Discount on Weak Market Debut

Annu Projects shares opened significantly lower on listing day, dropping 27% from the Rs 99 IPO price. The weak debut follows lukewarm investor interest during the subscription phase. Investors should note the company’s heavy reliance on government contracts and a recent increase in debt as key factors to track in the coming quarters.

Annu Projects Limited had a challenging start to its public market journey on September 2, 2026. The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm saw its shares debut at Rs 72 on the National Stock Exchange, which is a 27.27 percent discount from its issue price of Rs 99. The situation was slightly better but still disappointing on the Bombay Stock Exchange, where the stock opened at Rs 75, marking a 24.24 percent decline.

This weak market entry occurred despite the company raising Rs 175.06 crore through its fresh equity issue. Market observers noted that the IPO lacked the support of anchor investors and saw low participation from large institutional buyers, recording a subscription rate of just 2.93 times during its offering period from August 25 to August 28. The tepid reception suggests investors may have been cautious about the company's financial structure and business model.

For investors looking at the company's fundamentals, the business faces notable concentration risks. In the financial year 2026, approximately 94 percent of the company's revenue came from just two sectors: telecom and sewerage infrastructure. Furthermore, the company relies heavily on government contracts, which accounted for more than 57 percent of its revenue in the same period. This high dependence on a narrow set of clients and sectors means that any delay in government project approvals or payment cycles can directly impact cash flow and profitability.

Another point for shareholders to monitor is the company's rising debt level. Official reports indicate that the firm's borrowings increased to Rs 52.54 crore in the 2026 financial year, up from Rs 22.27 crore in 2025. While the company plans to use Rs 115 crore of the IPO proceeds for working capital and Rs 15 crore for new machinery to support projects in the telecom, gas pipeline, and railway signaling sectors, the success of this plan depends on efficient project execution.

The future performance of the stock will likely depend on how effectively the management utilizes the newly raised funds to reduce operational pressure and diversify its project portfolio. Investors may watch upcoming quarterly results for signs of margin improvement, debt reduction, and evidence of successful project execution, which are critical for stabilizing the stock price in the long run.
