Otis India is set to play a crucial role in advancing India's transportation infrastructure by supplying vertical transportation solutions for the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. Recent orders bring the total to 55 elevators and escalators deployed across six stations and one depot on this megaproject. This corridor is designed to utilize Shinkansen (Bullet Train) technology, drastically cutting travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just over two hours, with trains reaching speeds of up to 320 km/hr.
Otis India, a subsidiary of global leader Otis Worldwide Corporation, will equip the stations with its modern Gen2 Stream elevator systems, featuring machine-room-less design and Otis ReGen regenerative drive systems that convert excess energy into electricity. The 520 NPE escalator systems are engineered for heavy-duty use, focusing on safety, efficiency, and reliability for busy transport hubs.
Impact: This involvement highlights Otis India's expanding role in major infrastructure projects beyond metros and airports, positioning it as a key player in the nation's high-speed rail development. It showcases the company's commitment to passenger safety and seamless travel, potentially leading to further opportunities in India's growing transportation network. The successful deployment of these systems will enhance passenger experience and contribute to the operational efficiency of the high-speed rail corridor, a flagship project for India's modernization.
