Vascon Engineers has secured a ₹126.39 crore contract to build a 300-bed hospital in Wardha, Maharashtra, with a 24-month deadline. While the company is adding to its order book, investors are also looking at the company's recent 91% drop in quarterly profit and the cancellation of a separate large project in July.
Pune-based construction firm Vascon Engineers has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) worth ₹126.39 crore from the Public Works Department to build a 300-bed hospital in Wardha, Maharashtra. The project is awarded on an item-rate basis, and the company has been given a 24-month timeline to complete the construction.
This new order comes at a time when the company is navigating significant financial pressure. In its latest results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, Vascon Engineers reported a 91% decline in net profit, which fell to ₹2.01 crore compared to the same period in the previous year. Revenue for the same quarter also dropped by 31% to ₹151.94 crore, which highlights the operational challenges the business is currently facing.
Beyond financial results, investors are also keeping an eye on the stability of the company's existing project pipeline. In July 2026, the company experienced a cancellation of a separate construction contract worth ₹131.58 crore that had been awarded by Reliance Industries. Although the company noted that no physical work had started on that specific site, the incident serves as a reminder of the execution and cancellation risks that exist in the construction sector.
Regarding the new Wardha project, the company confirmed that neither its promoters nor any promoter group members hold any interest in the Public Works Department, which is the entity awarding the contract. For shareholders, the most important updates to follow will be the company's ability to execute this project within the 24-month deadline and whether it can improve its profit margins in the coming quarters. Investors may also track management commentary on how the company plans to manage its financial performance alongside its efforts to secure and execute new projects.
