New Units Boost Capacity
Three new grinding units, located in Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Patratu (Jharkhand), and Vizag (Andhra Pradesh), have added 8.7 MTPA to its domestic capacity. UltraTech's India operations now total 200.1 MTPA, with global capacity reaching 205.5 MTPA, including facilities in the UAE, Bahrain, and Sri Lanka.
Rapid Expansion Pace
The company's growth has accelerated dramatically. It reached its first 100 MTPA milestone in 2019 after 36 years, but has now added its next 100 MTPA in under seven years. This speed shows the company's strong ability to execute its plans.
Praise for India's Manufacturing Strength
Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla stated that the 200 MTPA milestone reflects India's growing confidence in large-scale manufacturing. He added that India is at a critical point where strategic decisions will shape its future infrastructure, and UltraTech is poised to create lasting value for stakeholders. Managing Director K.C. Jhanwar noted that the capacity growth came from organic expansions across various regions, along with strategic acquisitions, creating a national presence.
Future Growth and Sustainability Focus
UltraTech is also focusing on sustainability, aiming to lower specific CO₂ emissions and use more alternative fuels. The company has already started its next expansion phase, with over ₹16,000 crore in capital expenditure planned to raise its consolidated cement manufacturing capacity to more than 240 MTPA.
