Federal Card Services (FCS), a US-headquartered leader in premium card manufacturing, has announced a significant $250 million investment to enter the Indian market. The company will establish its first Indian manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra, aiming to commence operations in February 2026. This state-of-the-art plant will specialize in producing 100% metal cards and biodegradable cards made from renewable materials.
The investment is projected to create approximately 1,000 direct jobs in India across technology, real estate, and services. The choice of Pune is strategic, capitalizing on the region's strong talent pool and excellent connectivity to key Asian, Middle Eastern, and European markets. The facility's initial capacity will be 2 million cards annually, with plans to scale up to 26.7 million cards per year.
Federal Card Services' Chief Executive, Matías Gainza Eurnekian, stated that India is crucial for their global growth, citing its robust fintech ecosystem, engineering expertise, and manufacturing capabilities as ideal for scaling sustainable innovation. The company views India not just as a market but as a strategic hub for innovation and responsible manufacturing, planning to design payment solutions from India for the world. FCS already collaborates with prominent partners in India, including Axis Bank, VISA, Mastercard, and FPL Technologies (OneCard).
