Syrma SGS Q1 Revenue Climbs 68% As ODM Business Expands

Syrma SGS Technology reported a 68.3% revenue jump and 112% profit growth for Q1FY27, supported by a growing ODM segment. The company reaffirmed its 30-35% revenue growth guidance for the year, while holding an order book worth ₹6,800 crore. Investors should note that increased reliance on lower-margin consumer products continues to challenge overall profit expansion.

Syrma SGS Technology has started the new fiscal year with strong financial momentum, reporting a revenue increase of 68.3% compared to the same quarter last year. The company’s net profit, or Profit After Tax, surged by 112% during the same period, signaling significant operational expansion. This performance was supported by broad growth across the company’s business segments, particularly as it moves toward higher-value Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) projects and export markets.

Margin Dynamics and Operational Mix

The company’s operational efficiency showed improvement, with EBITDA margins expanding by 100 basis points. This progress was primarily driven by a shift toward more profitable ODM and export-oriented contracts. However, investors may note that this margin improvement faced balancing pressure from a rising share of business in the consumer sector, which typically operates on thinner margins. Managing this product mix remains a key factor in how the company sustains its profitability in the coming quarters.

Future Outlook and Order Book

Syrma SGS has maintained its growth forecast for FY27, projecting a revenue increase of 30% to 35%. The management expects EBITDA margins to stabilize between 10.5% and 11%. A major indicator for the company’s future revenue visibility is its robust order book, which currently stands at ₹6,800 crore. These orders are concentrated in the automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics sectors. Additionally, the company added 18 new customers during the quarter, including five in the automotive space and three in industrial segments, which helps diversify its revenue base.

Financial Context and Market Valuation

While the company continues to see strong top-line growth, analysts have maintained a cautious stance on the stock's valuation. The current market view, including recent updates from brokerage houses like Prabhudas Lilladher, suggests a balanced outlook. The brokerage has revised its price target to ₹1,409, reflecting a valuation of approximately 45 times the projected earnings for FY28. This premium valuation suggests that the market has already factored in significant expectations for future growth, making execution and the ability to maintain these margins the primary monitorables for shareholders.

Risks and Monitoring

As the company scales, investors should watch for potential pressures such as the ability to effectively manage the lower-margin consumer product segment and the impact of raw material price fluctuations on margins. Furthermore, while the current order book provides a strong foundation, timely execution and the conversion of these orders into realized revenue will be essential. The next important updates for investors will be the company’s ability to meet its export revenue target of ₹1,500 to ₹1,600 crore and any further management commentary on capacity usage at its new facilities.
