Siemens India Shares Rise 2% as Revenue Growth Masks Core Profit Dip

Siemens India shares rose 2.47% to ₹4,011 after reporting a 14.8% jump in revenue for the first quarter of FY27. While revenue and new orders showed strong demand, the reported profit was significantly boosted by a one-time gain from a business sale, while core operating profits faced pressure from rising costs.

Siemens India shares moved higher on Tuesday, closing at ₹4,011, a gain of 2.47%. The market response followed the company’s financial results for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, where the company highlighted strong revenue growth and healthy demand in its core business segments.

The company’s revenue from operations grew by 14.8% year-on-year, reaching ₹4,713.7 crore. Additionally, the company saw a 16.5% increase in new order intake, which climbed to ₹6,328 crore. These figures suggest that Siemens India continues to benefit from steady demand in sectors like infrastructure and industrial automation, which remain central to its business model.

While the top-line numbers—revenue and orders—point to a strong market position, investors are looking closely at the profit figures. The company reported a total consolidated net profit of ₹2,143.1 crore. However, this number includes a large one-time gain of ₹2,099 crore from the sale of its Low Voltage Motors business. Without this one-time windfall, the profit from continuing operations actually fell by approximately 18.7%, dropping to ₹343 crore from ₹422 crore in the same quarter last year.

The decline in core operating profit highlights some of the challenges the company is currently facing. Management notes that profitability has been impacted by volatility in commodity prices, rising material costs, and foreign exchange fluctuations. These factors have put pressure on profit margins, preventing the core business from reflecting the same growth seen in its revenue.

For investors, the contrast between the reported headline profit and the core operating profit is a key area to monitor. While the company maintains a solid order book and continues to secure new business, the ability to protect margins in an environment of fluctuating input costs will be crucial. Future quarterly reports will likely show whether the company can stabilize its core operating margins as it navigates these ongoing cost pressures.
