Sical Logistics Wins ₹39 Crore SAIL Iron Ore Contract

Sical Logistics has secured a ₹39.23 crore contract from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) for excavation and transport at the Dalli Mechanised Mine. The project, running through November 2028, adds to the firm's mining service order book. While this order supports the company's turnaround, investors are monitoring high debt levels, promoter pledges, and recent stock price volatility.

Sical Logistics has secured a mining services contract worth ₹39.23 crore from the state-owned Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). The agreement involves the excavation and transportation of iron ore, integrated circuit waste, and subgrade ore at Phase 6 of the Dalli Mechanised Mine. The project is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, and will run through November 18, 2028. This contract value excludes GST, and the company has confirmed the deal is an arm's-length transaction, with no material interest from the firm’s promoter group in the awarding entity.

This project expands the company’s mining services portfolio, a core segment of its business following the acquisition by the Pristine Group. The company has been working toward a financial recovery, recently reporting a net profit of ₹21.2 crore in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. This performance marked a significant shift from previous periods of losses, offering a positive signal to stakeholders looking for signs of operational stabilization.

Despite the new order, the company faces financial and structural hurdles that market participants often monitor. Sical Logistics continues to manage high debt, which impacts its financial flexibility. Furthermore, approximately 14.92% of the company's total diluted capital is pledged by promoters. High promoter pledging can increase stock sensitivity to price fluctuations, making it a key area of scrutiny for long-term investors.

The stock has faced recent downward pressure, closing at ₹86.90 on October 1, 2026, marking a decline of nearly 5% in that session. Given the competitive nature of the mining and logistics sector, the ability of the company to execute these projects profitably while maintaining cash flow is crucial.

Moving forward, the primary focus for investors will be the company’s progress in executing these orders on time. The market will likely continue to track the company's efforts to reduce debt, the status of promoter pledges, and whether its mining services backlog can consistently generate sustainable profit margins in the coming quarters.
