Shree Cement has launched a 3 million tonnes per annum grinding unit at its UAE subsidiary, Union Cement Company, with an investment of Rs 300 crore. This expansion lifts the company's total production capacity to 76.3 MTPA, but investors will look toward the upcoming October 23 board meeting for updates on profit margins and financial performance.
Shree Cement has officially commissioned a new 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) cement grinding facility at its subsidiary, Union Cement Company, located in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The project, involving an investment of AED 115 million, or approximately Rs 300 crore, increases the company’s regional production capacity in the UAE to 7 MTPA. This latest facility is part of the company's strategy to strengthen its international presence and improve production efficiency using modern grinding technology.
Scaling Capacity Amid Financial Pressures
With this addition, the company’s total global production capacity now stands at 76.3 MTPA. While capacity expansion is a key pillar of the company's growth, shareholders are closely monitoring financial performance, especially following the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. In that quarter, Shree Cement reported an 18% year-on-year rise in revenue to Rs 6,233 crore, but net profit fell by 17.5% to Rs 531 crore. This decline was primarily driven by higher costs for raw materials and fuel, which put pressure on profit margins.
Investors may watch whether the new facility’s focus on energy-efficient manufacturing can help mitigate some of these cost challenges. The company has highlighted that its new unit integrates advanced grinding technology and high-capacity dust collection systems to streamline energy usage. This aligns with the company's broader sustainability goals, as it recently reported that renewable energy sources account for 66% of its total energy mix, with an installed green power capacity of 634.5 MW.
What Investors Should Track Next
The market’s focus is now shifting toward the company’s upcoming financial report. The board of directors is scheduled to meet on October 23, 2026, to review and approve the financial results for the quarter and half-year ending September 30, 2026. The performance of the domestic business, alongside the contribution from expanded international units, will be key areas for analysis.
The cement sector currently faces volatility due to fluctuating raw material prices and intense competition, which can impact pricing power. While the company is expanding, the ability to maintain or improve profit margins despite these cost pressures remains a central monitorable. The trading window for the company's securities is currently closed until October 25, 2026, in compliance with standard regulatory requirements ahead of the results.
