Samsung Electronics has launched a new HVAC manufacturing facility in Pune, operated by its subsidiary FläktGroup, with an annual capacity of 6,500 units. Samsung Electronics has inaugurated a new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. Operated by FläktGroup, a specialized cooling company acquired by Samsung in November 2025, the new plant is designed to manufacture up to 6,500 units annually. This facility represents a strategic expansion of Samsung's business-to-business infrastructure operations, specifically targeting the high-density cooling requirements of AI data centers.
The Pune plant reached mass production readiness within six months of equipment installation. Its product portfolio includes air handling units (AHUs), fan wall units (FWUs), and computer room air handlers (CRAHs). These units are essential for maintaining the stable, low-temperature environments required for server rooms that power artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. The factory is strategically positioned near major logistics hubs, allowing the company to supply both the domestic Indian market and export to the broader Asia-Pacific region.
This expansion marks a key milestone in the integration of FläktGroup into Samsung Electronics. Since completing the 1.5 billion euro (approximately $1.7 billion) acquisition, Samsung has been working to combine its AI and platform technologies with FläktGroup’s established cooling engineering. The effort is part of a broader shift to develop new revenue streams beyond traditional consumer electronics, focusing on sectors like data center infrastructure, robotics, and industrial automation, where technical barriers to entry remain high.
The cooling market in India is experiencing rapid growth, driven by an influx of hyperscale data centers and government-led digitization efforts. Industry forecasts suggest the Indian data center cooling market could grow at a compound annual rate of over 20% through 2030. However, this sector is highly competitive, with established global and domestic players such as Vertiv, Schneider Electric, Stulz, and Blue Star already having a significant presence. Samsung's success in this space will depend on its ability to effectively scale production and secure orders from major data center operators, who often have strict requirements for energy efficiency, uptime, and after-sales service.
