India's Strategic Importance Fuels Saint-Gobain Expansion
Saint-Gobain's commitment to India is intensifying, with plans to double its sales within five-year cycles. Chairman and CEO Benoit Bazin revealed this strategy at the World Economic Forum in Davos, emphasizing India's crucial position as one of the company's top profit centers globally. India's construction sector, fueled by urbanization and sustainable building trends, provides a fertile ground for growth.
Growth Trajectory and Investment
The French multinational is already a significant player, operating 82 plants and generating nearly €2 billion in annual revenue from the country. Bazin noted that the company's Indian business has quadrupled over the past decade, driven by strong performance in glazing, insulation, and construction chemicals. Future investments will focus on both capital expenditure for new facilities and strategic acquisitions.
Future Outlook
Saint-Gobain anticipates continued acceleration in India over the next decade. The company's expansion plans are aligned with the rising demand for sustainable construction, extensive infrastructure buildout, and ongoing urbanization across the nation. Bazin expressed satisfaction with the current trajectory, stating, "All the boxes are checked — growth, scale and profitability."
