Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities Boosted
International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Limited (IAMPL), a strategic 50:50 joint venture between aerospace giant Rolls-Royce and Indian defense behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), officially opened its expanded manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This expansion more than doubles the operational footprint, now spread across 12 acres, significantly enhancing IAMPL’s capacity to produce vital compressor and turbine components for advanced jet engines. The upgraded facility is also designed to cultivate capabilities for developing complex and rotating parts, crucial for next-generation indigenous and global technology programs.
Strategic Vision for India
Sashi Mukundan, Executive Vice President for Rolls-Royce India, articulated the company's vision to establish India as a strategic 'home market,' focusing on innovation and engineering excellence to develop future-ready capabilities. K Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director of HAL, echoed this sentiment, highlighting IAMPL’s instrumental role in building advanced industrial capacity within India. He expressed confidence that these enhanced manufacturing capabilities will substantially contribute to India’s drive for indigenous technology development and bolster the nation’s position in the global aerospace and defence value chain. Since commencing operations in 2012, IAMPL has established a strong track record in manufacturing high-precision machined and special-processed parts for technologically advanced jet engines.
