Rapidise To Invest ₹200 Crore In Manesar Plant Expansion

Electronics manufacturer Rapidise has announced a ₹200 crore capital expenditure program to quadruple capacity at its Manesar facility over three years. The expansion, which includes adding 10 high-speed manufacturing lines, aims to tap into growth in AI, defense, and networking hardware. Investors will monitor how this large spending affects the company’s cash flow and profit margins during the construction phase.

Rapidise is launching a ₹200 crore expansion project at its Manesar, Haryana facility. The three-year plan focuses on quadrupling the plant’s current output capacity by adding new infrastructure and advanced manufacturing technology. The company intends to use this capacity to enter complex product categories such as artificial intelligence, defense, and networking hardware.

The project includes a new 1.2 lakh square-foot site in Sector 8, which will work alongside the existing 40,000 square-foot unit in Sector 3. Rapidise is installing 10 new surface mount technology lines to handle more complex circuit board assemblies. The company has already started a dual-lane line, which reportedly allows for the placement of 8 lakh units per hour, a technical benchmark for high-speed automated assembly.

For shareholders, the move signifies a push toward high-value, high-complexity manufacturing. While building capacity ahead of demand can help secure large orders, it also puts pressure on the balance sheet. Investors should watch how Rapidise manages the funding for this ₹200 crore outlay—whether through internal cash flow or additional debt. High capital spending often leads to a temporary dip in free cash flow, so monitoring profit margins and capacity utilization rates in the coming quarters will be essential.

The Indian electronics manufacturing services sector is seeing strong tailwinds driven by government policies like the Production Linked Incentive schemes and rising domestic demand. However, the industry is capital-intensive and competitive. Rapidise faces pressure to maintain efficiency as it expands. Unlike some peers who may focus on high-volume, low-margin goods, the company’s shift toward AI and defense hardware indicates a strategic attempt to move toward higher-margin products. Success here depends on the company’s ability to secure clients in these specialized sectors and execute the project without significant cost overruns.

The key for investors will be the commissioning timeline of the new facility and the company’s ability to ramp up utilization levels. Other factors to track include the impact of rising raw material costs on margins and the company's ability to maintain a healthy debt-to-equity ratio as this expansion progresses.
