RHI Magnesita India Profit Jumps 83%, Auditor to Resign

RHI Magnesita India reported an 83% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹64.6 crore for the June quarter, driven by better operational efficiency. Despite the profit growth, the company faces governance uncertainty following the announced resignation of its statutory auditors, Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountants LLP, effective August 14, 2026.

RHI Magnesita India, a manufacturer of refractory products, reported an 83% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹64.6 crore for the June quarter. While the financial performance shows improvement, the company simultaneously announced the resignation of its statutory auditors, Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountants LLP, effective August 14, 2026.

The financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 reflect a 5.6% growth in consolidated revenue, which touched ₹1,014 crore. Operating performance also improved, with the EBITDA margin widening to 13.6% compared to 10.6% in the same period last year. The company attributed this better profitability to successful cost recovery strategies, which helped it absorb higher expenses related to logistics, raw materials, and energy.

Despite the positive bottom-line growth, the upcoming change in auditors is a significant monitorable for investors. The statutory auditor is the independent firm responsible for verifying the company's financial records. Investors typically track auditor resignations closely, as the specific reason for such a departure can sometimes signal governance or transparency concerns.

Operationally, the company maintained steady output, with shipment volumes reaching 122 kilotonnes for the quarter. The company has focused on its 4PRO business model, which aims to provide customer-centric refractory solutions, particularly for the steel and cement sectors. Additionally, the company has undertaken initiatives to reduce energy consumption, reporting a 7% year-on-year decrease in energy use and a 6% reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions through automated technology and supply chain integration.

During the quarter, the company also saw a leadership transition, with Pankaj Malhan taking over as Managing Director and CEO. Chairman Parmod Sagar remains in his role. In a strategic expansion, the company announced a joint venture in June with Khemka Refractories Pvt. Ltd. to set up a facility in Odisha for recycling used refractory materials.

The key focus for shareholders moving forward will be the official communication regarding the auditor transition. Investors may track the company's exchange filings for the appointment of a new auditor and any further management commentary regarding the governance and transparency aspects of this change. Maintaining profit margins amidst industry-wide competition and raw material cost inflation will also remain important for the company's long-term financial health.
