The government has officially granted the private sector access to the PM GatiShakti platform through the launch of 'PM GatiShakti Public'. This query-based web platform provides regulated access to selected non-sensitive datasets from the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP). It enables private entities to conduct detailed infrastructure planning, site suitability analyses, connectivity mapping, and generate analytical reports based on predefined templates and user-defined criteria. Users can visualize multi-layered geospatial data, fostering better project design and inter-agency coordination. This move addresses a key industry demand and is expected to streamline planning, reduce costs, and encourage private sector participation in infrastructure development.
Concurrently, to support India's Blue Economy and green energy goals, 'PM GatiShakti – Offshore' was launched. This digital platform is designed for the integrated planning and management of offshore development projects such as offshore wind farms, marine resource exploration, and coastal infrastructure. It consolidates critical datasets from various government ministries to facilitate data-driven decision-making for sustainable coastal growth and the transition to green energy.
Impact:
This initiative is expected to significantly boost private sector investment and participation in infrastructure projects across India by providing greater transparency and data accessibility. It can accelerate project execution, improve efficiency, and reduce logistical costs. The offshore platform specifically promotes the development of renewable energy sources and marine resources, aligning with national climate and economic objectives. The overall impact on infrastructure and renewable energy sectors, and consequently on the broader economy, is rated 9 out of 10.
