Nuvoco Vistas Q2 Profit Rises 78% to ₹64.5 Crore

Nuvoco Vistas reported a 78% increase in net profit for the second quarter of FY27, reaching ₹64.5 crore, despite industry-wide pricing pressure. Revenue grew 13.5% to ₹2,790 crore, supported by a 9% rise in sales volumes and a focus on premium product offerings. Investors should monitor how the company manages ongoing logistics and input cost challenges while pursuing its capacity expansion goals.

Nuvoco Vistas Corp Ltd recorded a notable financial improvement in the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, navigating a challenging environment for the cement industry. The company posted a 78% increase in net profit, which reached ₹64.5 crore, compared to the same period last year. Revenue from operations also saw a healthy rise of 13.5%, totaling ₹2,790 crore, while operating profit—measured as EBITDA—grew 11% to ₹411 crore.

The company’s performance highlights the tension between rising sales volumes and stagnant market prices. While the cement sector has been dealing with muted selling prices, Nuvoco managed to protect its margins by shifting its product mix toward higher-value offerings. This strategic pivot, combined with a 9% increase in total cement sales volume to 4.7 million tonnes, helped offset some of the downward pressure on pricing. The ready-mix concrete segment also contributed positively to the top line, with revenue climbing nearly 14% to ₹293 crore.

Despite these gains, the operational environment remained difficult. Management noted that erratic rainfall during the quarter disrupted demand across several key markets, making it harder to move product efficiently. Additionally, persistent logistics hurdles and elevated input costs continued to weigh on overall profitability. These factors are common issues for cement manufacturers, as fuel and freight expenses often dictate the bottom line.

To strengthen its market position and ensure long-term efficiency, Nuvoco is pushing ahead with its capacity expansion and sustainability initiatives. The company recently commissioned a new 2 million tonnes per annum grinding unit at its Limla plant in Surat. This facility is a crucial step toward the firm's stated goal of reaching a total capacity of 35 million tonnes per annum by the 2028 financial year. The company is also working to complete the remaining modules of the Vadraj Cement project located in Kutch and Sachana, which are essential for expanding its presence in western India.

Beyond traditional expansion, the company is focusing on energy cost management to improve its financial structure. Nuvoco has partnered with CleanMax to set up a 46.4 MW wind-solar hybrid energy project in Rajasthan. This installation is expected to generate approximately 100 million units of green electricity every year. By relying more on renewable energy, the company aims to lower its dependency on the traditional grid and insulate itself from energy price volatility. Investors will likely watch how these capacity additions and cost-saving measures impact margins in the coming quarters, particularly as the company navigates the seasonal cycles of the cement demand.
