ICICI Securities has downgraded NCC Limited to a 'HOLD' rating, setting a revised Price Target (TP) of INR 193. This move comes after NCC's Q2FY26 financial results fell considerably short of expectations, reporting a 16% decrease in revenues against an anticipated flat performance by ICICI Securities.
The company's operational execution faced significant headwinds during the quarter. Key issues included payment delays for existing orders in the water segment, the impact of prolonged monsoon seasons, and delays in commencing work on orders secured in FY25, which represent a substantial 40% of the current orderbook. Consequently, NCC's management has decided to withdraw its previously issued financial guidance, acknowledging the prevailing uncertainties.
Financially, NCC reported an EBITDA margin of 7.4%, a year-on-year decline of 160 basis points. Profit After Tax (PAT) also saw a sharp reduction of 37% year-on-year, amounting to INR 1 billion.
While the company maintains a strong orderbook valued at INR 720 billion, bolstered by INR 98 billion in order inflows during H1FY26 (a 91% year-on-year increase), ICICI Securities highlights concerns regarding near-term execution capabilities and potential cashflow pressures.
Impact: This downgrade suggests a cautious outlook for NCC Limited in the immediate future, potentially affecting investor sentiment. The company will need to effectively address execution challenges and payment cycle issues to regain market confidence. The robust order pipeline offers long-term potential, but near-term financial performance is expected to be under pressure. Rating: 6/10
