KEI Industries shares rose following strong first-quarter results, where the company reported a 40% jump in net profit to ₹274 crore. With profit margins expanding to 13%, analysts have upgraded price targets. While domestic demand remains strong, investors are weighing the impact of export disruptions and the company's current high valuation.
KEI Industries shares saw positive movement on August 4, 2026, rising nearly 10% following the release of its first-quarter financial results for FY27. The wire and cable manufacturer reported a significant 40.05% year-over-year increase in net profit, which reached ₹274 crore. Revenue for the quarter stood at ₹3,185 crore, reflecting a 22.97% growth compared to the same period last year. Following these results, analysts at Prabhudas Lilladher maintained an 'Accumulate' rating on the stock and raised the target price to ₹6,001.
Operational Gains Fuel Profitability
The company’s performance was supported by strong demand in the domestic wires and cables segment, which grew by 29.3%. Management highlighted that the profit margin, or EBITDA margin, expanded to approximately 13%, surpassing earlier guidance. This improvement was largely driven by a more profitable product mix, particularly increased sales of extra-high voltage (EHV) cables and a higher contribution from the retail business. By shifting focus toward these higher-value items, the company has managed to improve its operational efficiency.
Export Headwinds and Valuation Watch
While domestic operations are performing well, the company is managing challenges in its export business. Middle Eastern shipment disruptions and new US customs duties caused a 7.3% decline in export revenue during the quarter. Management expects this to be a temporary phase and anticipates exports to contribute 17-18% of total revenue by FY27 as international markets stabilize.
Investors are also evaluating the stock's current valuation, which is trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of approximately 53x. This premium valuation suggests that much of the future growth expectations are already built into the share price. Whether the company can sustain this pace depends on its ability to manage costs and scale new projects effectively.
Future Growth and Project Execution
The company is betting on its new Sanand facility to drive future revenue. This unit is expected to contribute between ₹15 billion and ₹20 billion by FY27, with full utilization targeted by FY28. Additionally, the commissioning of the new EHV facility by March 2027 is a key project on the radar. The main update for investors to monitor will be the progress of these facility expansions and whether the company can successfully navigate the current export volatility to meet its double-digit revenue growth guidance.
