India's Mutual Funds Set for AI Overhaul: CAMS Lens Promises Compliance Revolution!

Computer Age Management Services (CAMS), India’s largest registrar and transfer agent for mutual funds, is preparing to launch its flagship artificial intelligence platform, CAMS Lens, within the next four to six weeks. This launch is part of a broader strategy involving four AI-led integrations planned over the next two quarters. CAMS Lens is designed to revolutionize regulatory compliance for asset management companies and intermediaries by using a custom-trained large language model (LLM). The platform will continuously scan financial regulator websites like Sebi, instantly identify new circulars, classify them, and generate summaries, compliance checklists, and alerts. A key feature is its ability to write SQL-based queries to automatically validate compliance data against transaction records, thereby minimizing manual errors and improving audit precision. CAMS Managing Director Anuj Kumar stated that the platform will run in parallel with manual processes for six to nine months to ensure accuracy surpasses 99 percent before full transition. CAMS has been bolstering its AI talent by hiring nearly 100 graduates from IIT and IIM since 2024 and partnering with Google for development.
