The Aluminium Secondary Manufacturers Association (ASMA) has formally requested the Indian government to reduce the import duty on primary aluminium. They argue that the current 7.5% duty, combined with pricing models, makes downstream industries, especially MSMEs, uncompetitive due to high input costs, threatening their viability and market access both domestically and internationally.
