Manufacturing Milestone Achieved
India's electronics export sector has reached a new zenith, surpassing $47 billion in calendar year 2025. This achievement represents a formidable 37% year-on-year expansion, a figure directly linked to strategic government policies. The "Make in India" initiative and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme are credited with galvanizing domestic production.
Smartphone Dominance
Nearly $30 billion of the total electronics export value originated from smartphone manufacturing. This segment alone accounted for approximately 75% of all smartphone exports originating from India. This represents a significant shift from a previous reliance on imports to becoming a global manufacturing hub for these devices.
iPhone Exports Lead Growth
Specifically, iPhone exports alone contributed a remarkable $22 billion, representing 46% of the overall electronics export figures. This highlights the success of attracting high-value manufacturing within the country and integrating into global supply chains.
Sustained Sector Momentum
Monthly performance also showcased the sector's strength, with electronics exports exceeding $4 billion in seven out of the twelve months of 2025. December alone saw exports reach $4.17 billion. Electronics has now solidified its position as India's third-largest export sector, climbing rapidly over the past five years.
Global Confidence
This record performance underscores growing international confidence in India's manufacturing capabilities. The expansion positions India as a trusted global electronics market player, showcasing its rising strength in high-value production.
