India Levies Duty on Chinese Steel Imports
India has officially imposed an anti-dumping duty on certain steel products imported from China. The duty is set at $223.82 per tonne and will remain in effect for a period of five years. This decisive action by the Indian government comes after a comprehensive investigation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR).
The investigation found that dumped imports of Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Electrical Steel (CRNO) from China were causing material injury to the domestic steel industry. CRNO steel, also known as cold-rolled flat silicon electrical steel, is a critical component used in the manufacturing of essential electrical equipment like motors, generators, and small transformers.
Scope of the Duty
The newly imposed duty specifically targets Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Electrical Steel (CRNO).
