Hindalco Partners With Metalshub To Digitalize Spot Alumina Sales

Hindalco Industries is shifting its spot alumina sales to a digital tendering system via Metalshub, starting in the October-December 2026 quarter. This strategic change aims to streamline supply chain transparency for the metal giant, which recently reported a record quarterly profit of ₹7,013 crore.

Hindalco Industries is moving its spot alumina sales to a digital platform. The company has partnered with Metalshub, an online trading marketplace, to replace traditional manual negotiations with a structured digital tendering process. This transition is expected to begin with the first tender event scheduled for the period between October and December 2026.

The shift is a strategic operational change designed to improve transparency and efficiency in how the company sells its raw materials. By moving away from manual deals, Hindalco aims to standardize its sales process and potentially reach a broader range of buyers through the digital interface.

This move comes against the backdrop of a strong financial period for the company. In its recent quarterly results for the period ending June 30, 2026, Hindalco reported its strongest performance to date. The company posted a record net profit of ₹7,013 crore, marking a 75% increase compared to the same period the previous year. These record revenues and profits have supported the company's efforts to continue its large-scale expansion plans, which are targeted for completion by fiscal year 2029.

However, investors often track the company’s balance sheet alongside its growth plans. As of the June 30, 2026, reporting date, the company’s consolidated net debt-to-EBITDA ratio stood at 1.95x, compared to 1.02x in the previous year. While the company remains profitable, this rise in debt reflects the capital spending required for its ongoing large projects and operational events. Investors typically watch these debt levels to ensure that the company maintains financial flexibility even as it expands its capacity.

Market participants are also monitoring the broader aluminium sector, which faces cyclical demand fluctuations. The company's future performance will depend on its ability to execute these capacity expansions while managing its debt and navigating potential regulatory shifts in the metal industry.

As of September 15, 2026, the company’s stock was trading around ₹968 per share. Moving forward, the key detail for shareholders will be the success of the new digital platform in managing sales volumes and whether this shift contributes to better operational margins in the coming quarters.
