The new facility spans 40,000 square feet and is set to begin operations with an annual production capacity of 100 MWh. The company has structured the plant to allow for future scalability, with plans to double this output to 200 MWh as demand increases. This growth is backed by a ₹40 crore investment infusion from Avaana Capital, a venture capital firm focused on climate-tech investments.

Dreamfly Innovations specializes in high-end battery chemistries, including lithium-based technologies, graphene, and supercapacitors. These components are essential for specialized drone applications ranging from defense and surveillance to agricultural spraying and logistics. By bringing this manufacturing in-house, the company aims to move beyond simple assembly and build core components locally.

Aligning With National Manufacturing Goals

Currently, many critical components for the drone sector are imported. Dreamfly Innovations reports that its existing products already contain 77% indigenous content. The new facility is intended to improve this metric further, directly supporting government-led initiatives such as the Kisan Drone Policy and broader Make in India objectives.

For the domestic drone ecosystem, the ability to source batteries locally can lead to shorter supply chains and more predictable costs. The company stated that reducing reliance on imported battery cells is a primary driver for this capital spending project. As the drone industry continues to scale, the availability of domestically produced, safety-certified battery packs remains a crucial monitorable for Indian drone manufacturers who compete against global incumbents.
