Ceigall India Wins Rs 5,300 Crore Gujarat Power Project

Ceigall India has secured a Rs 5,300 crore transmission contract from REC Power Development and Consultancy to build infrastructure in Gujarat. The 35-year contract provides guaranteed annual revenue of Rs 608.67 crore following a three-year construction phase. This move adds a significant long-term income stream to the company's existing project portfolio.

Ceigall India has received a Letter of Intent from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited to develop a major power transmission project in Gujarat. The contract is valued at Rs 5,300 crore, inclusive of GST, and is part of a competitive bidding process. This project allows the company to expand its presence in the national power infrastructure sector by facilitating the evacuation of power from high-capacity renewable energy zones.

The project marks a shift for the company, as it includes a 35-year operational term. Once the construction phase is complete, Ceigall India will receive guaranteed annual transmission charges of Rs 608.67 crore. This provides the firm with long-term cash flow visibility that differs from traditional project-based contracts. This development comes as the company continues to report growth, having posted a consolidated revenue of Rs 970 crore and a net profit of Rs 61.3 crore in the first quarter of the 2027 financial year.

Project Scope and Timeline

The construction phase is expected to span 36 months. The scope of work includes building a 765/400 kV Air Insulated Substation alongside approximately 300 kilometers of high-voltage transmission lines. This infrastructure is designed to evacuate 14 GW of energy from key renewable hubs in Gujarat, specifically Lakadia, Jam Khambhaliya, and Jamnagar. By focusing on these zones, the project acts as a vital link for distributing electricity from renewable sites to the national grid.

Execution and Operational Factors

While the long-term revenue is guaranteed, the project involves risks typical of large-scale infrastructure assignments. The primary challenge for the company will be the 36-month execution phase. Investors may track whether the firm can complete the construction without delays or significant cost increases, as these factors directly impact the project's profitability. Over the 35-year operational period, Ceigall India will also be responsible for maintenance, requiring effective cost management to protect its profit margins.

The ability to manage such technically complex utility projects is important for the company’s long-term reputation. As the company takes on this larger scope, the focus will remain on construction milestones and the company’s ability to balance this new operational responsibility alongside its existing infrastructure business. The next important update for shareholders will likely be the progress on project commissioning and any subsequent disclosures regarding the mobilization of resources for this development.
