Agneyastra Energetics Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kalyani Strategic Systems, has officially commenced construction on a major defense manufacturing facility near Madakasira in Andhra Pradesh's Sri Sathya Sai District. The company plans to invest approximately ₹1,500 crore in this new campus over the next two to four years.

Spanning over 1,000 acres, the integrated facility is designed to significantly enhance India's self-reliance in critical defense areas. It will focus on producing advanced energetics, ammunition systems, propellants, rockets, and pyrotechnic systems. These components are essential for defense, aerospace, and space applications, aiming to drive greater technological independence for the nation.

This expansion comes as Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) reports a robust order book close to ₹11,000 crore. The substantial backlog highlights the growing demand and opportunities within India's rapidly expanding domestic defense manufacturing sector.

The project is also set to deliver considerable economic and employment benefits to the region. It is projected to create around 800 direct jobs and an additional 2,500 indirect employment opportunities, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh's position as a key hub for aerospace and defense manufacturing.

Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge, sees this development as vital for India's ambition to become a global supplier of advanced defense systems. He stated that Agneyastra Energetics represents a crucial step in developing globally competitive indigenous capabilities for both domestic and export markets. This initiative directly supports the Indian government's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' vision by reducing dependence on imported materials and fostering local value creation in strategic sectors.
