Ashoka Buildcon Ltd has been awarded a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) by the North Western Railway, Ajmer, for a project valued at ₹539.35 crore, including GST. The project's primary objective is to upgrade the existing electric traction system from 1 x 25 kV to 2 x 25 kV. This upgrade will double the power capacity, which is crucial for enabling faster train operations and improving energy efficiency. Additionally, the scope includes modifying the overhead equipment (OHE) to support train speeds of up to 160 kmph. The work will cover key sections of the Ajmer Division, spanning approximately 660 route kilometers and 1,200 track kilometers, including the Ajmer–Chittorgarh, Chittorgarh–Udaipur, Madar–Bangarh, and Bangarh–Palanpur sections. The project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months from the date of LoA issuance.
Impact This project award is a significant positive development for Ashoka Buildcon, substantially enhancing its order book and providing clear revenue visibility for the next two years. It aligns with the government's focus on infrastructure modernization, particularly within the railway sector, aiming to improve speed and efficiency. Investors are likely to view this as a strong indicator of the company's growth potential, potentially boosting investor confidence and market sentiment. Rating: 7/10
Difficult Terms: Letter of Acceptance (LoA): A formal document issued by a client to a contractor, indicating their intent to award a contract for a specific project. Electric Traction System: A system used to power electric trains, locomotives, or trams using electricity from an external source, typically via overhead lines or a third rail. 1 x 25 kV to 2 x 25 kV Upgrade: This refers to increasing the electrical supply capacity for the traction system. Doubling the system from one 25 kilovolt (kV) supply to two 25 kV supplies significantly enhances power delivery for higher speeds, heavier loads, and improved reliability. Overhead Equipment (OHE): The network of wires and supporting structures that supply electricity to electric trains from above. Route Kilometres: The length of a railway line measured by the distance between stations or points. Track Kilometres: The total length of all railway tracks within a given area, including sidings and yards.
