Jabil Expands Indian Footprint with Large Pune Lease
Jabil Circuit India, a key manufacturing partner for Apple, has secured a substantial 413,287-square-foot industrial warehouse facility in Ranjangaon MIDC, near Pune. The 10-year lease agreement, which began January 12, 2026, from sub-lessor KVR Industrial Park, signals a significant expansion of the company's operational capabilities within India. This move aligns with Apple's broader strategy to reduce its reliance on China and strengthen its manufacturing base in emerging markets.
Strategic Diversification Drive
The decision by Jabil, a supplier for Apple's AirPods casing, to establish this large-scale facility underscores the growing trend of 'China Plus One' manufacturing strategies adopted by global tech giants. Apple's own Indian exports have surged, with 30.9 million iPhones shipped between January and September 2025, predominantly to the US. Jabil's investment in India is not new; the company had previously committed ₹2,000 crore in September 2024 to set up an electronics manufacturing facility in Tiruchirappalli. Its client roster also includes major technology firms like Cisco, HP, and Dell.
Lease Terms and Local Impact
The freshly signed lease mandates a monthly rent of ₹94.84 lakh, with a security deposit amounting to ₹5.39 crore. The property, with a built-up area of 317,958 square feet, falls under the purview of MIDC as the primary landlord. This expansion is expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate ancillary industries in the Pune region, further cementing India's position as a critical hub in global electronics manufacturing supply chains. The long-term lease indicates a sustained commitment and confidence in India's industrial infrastructure and workforce.
