Adani Defence & Aerospace, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, has officially started work on its new missile manufacturing complex in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. With an investment of ₹2,500 crore, the company plans to create an integrated ecosystem that covers the entire production cycle of medium and long-range missiles. This includes manufacturing critical components such as propellants, TNT, and other explosives under one roof.
Strategic Shift to Indigenous Production
The company stated that the Shivpuri facility will be the largest of its kind in the private sector across South Asia. This project is part of a broader push to increase local defense manufacturing and reduce the country's reliance on foreign weapon systems. The development is being carried out in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian armed forces to support the government's push for self-reliance in the defense sector.
Beyond the primary manufacturing units, the project is designed to integrate over 50 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) into the specialized defense supply chain. This move aims to build a robust local network for defense hardware, which could help lower the costs and risks associated with global supply chain disruptions. The facility is expected to be fully operational within the next three years.
Expanding Defense Portfolio
This new investment adds to the company's existing footprint in Kanpur, Gwalior, and Hyderabad. The Kanpur complex is currently being developed as a large-scale integrated ammunition manufacturing hub. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad facility is focused on unmanned aerial systems and surface-to-air missile production. The Gwalior site has already gained traction by supplying 2,000 Prahar Light Machine Guns to the Indian Armed Forces.

Adani Defence & Aerospace continues to scale its operations across varied segments including small arms, drones, and aircraft services.
