JK Cement Ltd. has been awarded a significant limestone mining lease by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, a key step in the company's strategy to expand its raw material reserves.
Andhra Pradesh Mining Grant
The cement manufacturer received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from the Department of Mines and Geology for the Dommarnandyala block-3 limestone block. This grant, covering 1,188 hectares in the YSR Kadapa district, was issued after JK Cement was declared the preferred bidder on March 19, 2026. The official LOI was received on May 20, 2026.
Expanding Resource Base
This Andhra Pradesh development complements recent mining lease acquisitions by JK Cement. The company also announced an LOI from the Madhya Pradesh government for the Itauri Jharkua limestone block in Panna district, where it was also named the preferred bidder on March 19, 2026.
Furthermore, JK Cement recently emerged as the preferred bidder in an e-auction for the Maliyakheri Limestone Block-I in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. These successful bids underscore the company's focus on securing long-term limestone resources vital for its manufacturing operations.
Recent Operational Updates
Earlier this year, in January, JK Cement commissioned a 3 million tonnes per annum (MnTPA) cement grinding unit at its JK Cement Works facility in Buxar, Bihar. This expansion aims to increase production capacity and meet growing regional market demand.
JK Cement Ltd. shares closed at ₹5,360.00 on the BSE on Wednesday, down ₹69.30, or 1.28%, from the previous close.
