Healthcare giant Apollo Hospitals Enterprise is set to enhance its presence in the integrated traditional medicine sector by adding four new facilities to its Ayurveda subsidiary, Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals. This strategic expansion will boost the network's total bed capacity from the current 285 to 350 beds within the next three to four months. The latest development follows the recent opening of a 35-bed facility in Chennai. The expansion is driven by a strategic bet on the increasing demand for inpatient and outpatient services rooted in Ayurveda.
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, which acquired a 60% stake in AyurVAID in October 2022, aims to create a fully integrated network that complements its existing healthcare ecosystem. Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals offers integrative care across various specialities, including neurology, oncology, and palliative care, leveraging Ayurvedic principles. The planned new hospitals will be located in major metropolitan areas such as Mumbai and Kolkata, with subsequent expansion into smaller markets like Coimbatore and Ahmedabad.
Impact: This expansion is expected to significantly increase revenue streams for Apollo Hospitals Enterprise by tapping into the growing market for Ayurvedic treatments. It strengthens the company's diversified healthcare offerings and could lead to improved financial performance, potentially benefiting its stock value. Investors may view this as a positive step towards capturing a larger share of the integrated wellness market. Rating: 8/10
