Sai Life Sciences Hits Record High After Q2 Revenue Surge

Shares of Sai Life Sciences touched a lifetime peak of ₹1,775 as the company reported a 23% jump in Q2 revenue. The growth is fueled by strong demand in its drug research and manufacturing business. Investors are now weighing the company's aggressive expansion plans against potential cash flow pressures and high valuation multiples.

Sai Life Sciences shares reached a record high of ₹1,775 in Friday trade, marking a significant performance milestone for the company. The stock rally followed the release of its second-quarter financial results for the 2027 fiscal year, which showed broad-based growth across its business segments. Trading volume remained high, reflecting strong investor interest in the company’s current growth trajectory.

For the quarter ending September 2026, the company reported revenue of ₹659 crore, representing a 23 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Profit after tax rose by 17 percent to ₹98 crore. The company maintained steady operational efficiency, reporting an EBITDA margin of 28 percent, which suggests that it is managing its core operations well despite the ongoing expansion efforts. The board also approved the allotment of over 1 lakh shares under its employee stock option plan, reflecting internal confidence in the firm's progress.

The core of the company’s current business strategy is its integrated contract research, development, and manufacturing model. Management indicated that they are successfully transitioning from small, project-based work to larger, long-term strategic partnerships with global pharmaceutical clients. This shift is intended to provide more predictable revenue streams across the drug development lifecycle, from initial discovery to commercial production.

While the growth figures are positive, investors should consider the impact of the company's aggressive capital spending. Sai Life Sciences deployed ₹621 crore in capital expenditure during the first half of the current fiscal year alone. The company has a total guidance of ₹1,100 crore to ₹1,300 crore for the full year. While this investment is aimed at expanding capacity to meet future demand, it naturally places pressure on cash flows. Rapid expansion also often leads to higher working capital requirements, which can tie up funds that could otherwise be used for debt reduction or dividends.

From a valuation perspective, the stock is trading at a significant premium, with multiples such as its price-to-book ratio reaching elevated levels compared to historical averages. This premium reflects market optimism regarding the company's future growth, but it also increases the risk of volatility if the company fails to meet its projected targets or if demand from global pharmaceutical clients softens due to economic factors. The company’s ability to execute its capacity ramp-up without disrupting margins will be a critical factor for investors to monitor in the coming quarters.
