Rasayan AI Labs Unveils AI Drug Discovery Tool at ICT Mumbai

Rasayan AI Labs, a private startup, has launched an AI-native platform at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, to speed up drug development. While the technology aims to shorten pharmaceutical research timelines, investors should note that this is a private entity. It is not listed on the stock exchanges and should not be confused with publicly traded companies that share similar names.

Rasayan AI Labs, a technology startup, has introduced an AI-powered platform for computational chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. The new software is designed to tackle the time-consuming process of drug discovery by helping researchers determine if a new chemical compound can be built and if it is safe for clinical use. By combining these essential steps into one interface, the company aims to reduce the time typically spent switching between different research tools.

The platform integrates several specialized functions, including retrosynthesis—a method to determine how to build complex molecules—and ADMET prediction, which assesses how a drug behaves in a biological system. It also features a custom molecular design tool called RasayanDraw. In a pilot study at ICT Mumbai, the platform reportedly identified 23 potential drug candidates for an inflammation-focused project, with 19 of those compounds moving into the testing phase within three weeks.

To encourage adoption, the startup is offering its platform for free to students and academic researchers across India. For commercial clients, the company is offering enterprise deployment options, including cloud-based or private, air-gapped environments, to suit different data security needs. Industry veterans present at the launch highlighted the importance of such tools in shortening the pharmaceutical research cycle, which can otherwise span many years and involve high capital expenditure.

Important Note for Investors

It is important for market participants to recognize that Rasayan AI Labs is a private company, incorporated in March 2026. It is not a publicly traded entity on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Investors may encounter confusion with other established, publicly traded companies in the chemical and packaging sectors that bear similar names, such as Bharat Rasayan Ltd or RDB Rasayans Ltd. As this is a newly formed private startup, it does not provide publicly regulated financial reports, and its operations are subject to the inherent risks typical of early-stage technology ventures, including the need for continuous funding and market competition.
